The question asked fifteen times a week
“Has my horse been turned out today?” “Has the farrier been?” “Is the feed still the same?” These questions do not come from distrust: owners who only see their horse at weekends have no other way to find out. And answering them fifteen times a week costs a yard manager half a day every month.
The problem is access to information. Once owners can check the information themselves, they no longer need to ask.
Where my horse is
On a map of the yard, drawn over a real aerial photograph. Every paddock and stable can be selected to show the horses in it. Movements are recorded, so you can see when your horse went out, when they came back in and who logged it.
A tablet mounted in the yard serves this very purpose: staff can record “turned out”, “brought in” or “fed” in one step, and every entry names the person who made it. No personal data appears on this screen : no payments or contact details.
What my horse eats
Feed is recorded by product and quantity, backed by a real feed catalogue. The yard's feeding chart is drawn from these records: who gets what this morning, without anyone having to copy it onto a whiteboard.
What happens to my horse
Care records cover thirteen categories, from hoof trimming to X-rays, with photos and dates. Reminders arrive fourteen days before, seven days before and on the due date.
And if something is wrong, the owner hears about it within a minute. Lameness, a loose shoe, a wound: flagging an observation as a concern immediately alerts the owner, administrator and instructor. It stays clearly visible on the horse's profile until someone marks it as resolved and explains what was done.

What is left to pay
Livery charges are tracked month by month through three stages: unpaid, reported as paid by the owner and confirmed by the yard. Each change notifies the other party and leaves a dated record. No payments go through the app : it tracks where things stand without collecting money.
Ride freely, with every session accounted for
Owners are free to ride their own horse as often as they wish. Every ride, whether a lesson, a schooling session or a hack, counts towards the horse's workload, with limits set by the yard for each horse and alerts to match. Freedom for the rider and visibility for the yard, without compromising either.
Who can see what, and how much
Owners set the visibility of each category in their horse's records: what stays between them and the administrator, what people linked to the horse can see, and what is shared with the whole yard. They can also share sections of the profile with friends at other yards, or make everything “Only me”.
The horse remains theirs, and so do the records. If they move yards, the horse's profile, care records and history go with them.
Frequently asked questions
Can owners see everything about their horse?
Yes. They also decide what others can see, category by category. Their horse's records, movements, feed and reminders are available to them as a matter of course.
What happens if a horse moves to another livery yard?
The profile, complete care records and history stay with the owner. The horse does not belong to the yard where they live, and neither do their records.
Does the app handle livery invoices?
No. It tracks paid and unpaid charges through three stages, with a history of every change. It does not issue invoices or collect payments.
Can a yard see another yard's horses?
No. Yards are kept entirely separate, and this is enforced by the database. The only exception is information that owners choose to share with their friends, section by section.
Do I need to keep a horse at livery to use Paddoco?
No. A horse can live “at home”, linked to an account without belonging to any yard, with the same care records and reminders.
